Kayak

Kayak is one of the best travel sites on the web for finding Hotel, flight, and car rental deals. They also offer a great iPhone and iPad app to make finding the right hotel on the road a snap.

Kayak- Compare Hundreds of Travel Sites at Once. The ultimate travel assistant
- Find flight, hotel and car rental deals
- Book your travel
- Track your flight status
- View and organize your trip itinerary
- Look up baggage fees

I have used Kayak on several occasions to find hotels in areas that I plan to travel. They offer all the details and photos from the hotel as well as actual reviews from people who have stayed there. They offer a lot of sorting options if you are interested in the best price or star rating.

Where To?

Another great app for finding things, Where To helps you find places of interest (i.e. zoos, spas, shopping centers). It does cost $2.99, but is worth it just for the “Surprise Me!” feature, which will help you pick where you want to stop if the group or family can’t decide.

Where To can help you find your hotel or motel and all the great things around your hotel. It offers an easy to use interface that makes finding entertainment, restaurants, parks, and tons more as simple as a few clicks.

Where To was Winner of the 2009 and 2010 Best App Ever Awards in the category “Best Travel App” It is worth a look before you hit the road for your next travel adventure.

Priceline

Priceline has built a reputation on allowing users some control over their travel expenses. Users can place bids on hotel rooms and some times land a great deal on room that would otherwise go unsold.

This app finally makes it practical to bid on a room at the 11th-hour through Priceline’s famous blind-booking system.

If you have decided you’re going to need a hotel for tonight. But you don’t want to spend more than 10 minutes getting a deal. Priceline’s app will help you make a quick, smart bid. It tells you the average successful bid by other Priceline users—who’ve generally had more time on their hands to craft their bids—think is the lowest possible bargain for your preferred type of hotel in the neighborhood you’re visiting.

These are some of the top apps for locating a hotel and getting a great deal in the process. If you have any apps that make your travels easier please leave a comment below and share with your fellow travelers.
