Games on the iPhone, what to look for.
Until the SDK was released I did not fully understand all the hardware capabilities of the iPhone. I knew it was the best mobile device that I had used. It was easy to use, it did what it said it would do, and it looked good doing it. That was more than any of the other smart phone manufacturer had been able to accomplish after several releases and years of head start on Apple.
What I did not understand was the hardware power that lies beneath the slick glass and chrome case. Nothing pushes a hardware device more than gaming so the true test of the hardware horse power will be the iPhones gaming capability.
iPhone Speakers
Here is a handy hardware solution for the iPhone / iPod Touch owner who needs a little more volume.
Speakers from LiveSpeakR, they are due out this summer, pricing not yet available. They hook in to the USB port and provide a stand in the back to keep the iPhone upright.
It has dual power supply (batteries or AC).
(iPhoneAppReview comment) If they made this in black and moved the speakers to the top corners they might get a certain endorsement from a well known mouse over at Disney… M-I-C-K-E-Y
Just thought good luck to you LiveSpeakR, if you ever want to advertise here let me know…
A Bluetooth Keyboard for the iPhone?
Now that the SDK has been announced and everyone is either busy announcing products or putting in their wish lists for products, here is one more that I would like to see.
How about a Bluetooth Keyboard and text entry program for the iPhone. How nice would it be to use one of these cool Ped3 Stands and a mini bluetooth keyboard for the iPhone to turn your iPhone in to a mini road monitor and use the phone as a true mobile computer.
Gameloft promises 15 iPhone games in 2008
Gameloft, currently one of the major publishers of games for the iPod classic, nano and 5G, has announced its intentions to both develop and publish for the iPhone platform. The news follows Apple’s preview of the App Store and SDK, and announcements from other game companies, including Sega and Electronic Arts as well as Freeverse.
Development teams at Gameloft are already said to be at work on some 15 titles, taking advantage of features such as the touchscreen, accelerometer and 3D processor. Because the games will come through the App Store, Gameloft notes that they will be the first from the company to be available directly through EDGE or Wi-Fi. At present, iPod games must be downloaded through iTunes, and then synched via USB. No prices or release dates have been mentioned for any particular Gameloft title.
Spore on the iPhone
Wanna see what Spore from EA Games will look like on the iPhone? So do I. Here is a 2 week peek at what was released at the town hall meeting last week at Apple. Keep in mind this only 2 weeks of development.
My question is how much room will games like this take up on my iPhone? Movies, music, photos, now games and other cool software…with no external media slot. Seems like Steve Jobs has a nice built in upgrade path for all of us 8 giggers. How long before 8 or 16 gigs is not enough and we need some REAL storage to carry all this new cool stuff around with us?
Do I see a 250 gig iPhone at next years MacWorld? Let the rumors begin.
