Edinburgh Guide - Edinburgh iPhone App

Just in time for the summer season, a well known Edinburgh local has released an insider’s guide to the city for the iPhone.

Travel journalist and Edinburgh expert Andy Hayes has just published his local insights and Edinburgh travel tips onto an iPhone application called Edinburgh Secrets.  The guide includes well over one hundred suggestions for things to do in the Scottish capital, from free outdoor sightseeing to recommended cafes and tourist attractions.

Hayes is no stranger to doling out Edinburgh advice.  An active blogger on Edinburgh and other travel topics, last fall he published the Historic Walking Guide to Edinburgh, which featured a fresh perspective on local legends and Scottish history.  Hayes says about the new application:
“While I love an old fashioned book as much as the next guy, the reality is that new cafes and shops open up all the time.  With Edinburgh Secrets, visitors can get the latest tips and information in the palm of their hand, and updates can be shared far more quickly.  What’s not to like?”

Edinburgh Secrets is only £0.59 / $0.99 – an inexpensive way to have your own personal tour guide to take with you in and around Edinburgh.

Samantha Currie, one of the first buyers of the guide, says that “as a local there are still places I pass by every day thinking ‘I really must try that place someday.’ This app is so handy and I can’t wait to visit some of the places mentioned. It’s great to have photos, location maps and contact details too. Well worth [the cost] and a must for visitors to the city to help to avoid the obvious tourist traps!”
