K Dictionaries launches PIX, a multilingual audio-visual dictionary for the iPhone
Tel Aviv, September 1, 2010. The first in a series of PIX multilingual audio-visual dictionary apps for the iPhone has launched on the iTunes App Store. PIX English Spanish Picture Dictionary for iPhone is an innovative tool for language learners of all ages. The dictionary is organized into themes that consist of 16 categories, 125 topics, and over 2,100 entries of fundamental vocabulary. Each entry includes an image along with the term and its audio pronunciation in each language.
“We are excited to be launching the first PIX for the iPhone. The app provides children with a fascinating learning tool that helps build basic vocabulary in first and second (and more) languages, and is highly useful for adult users as well,” said Ilan Kernerman, CEO of K Dictionaries.
Created for mobile devices, the PIX multilingual audio-visual dictionary series contains basic vocabulary used in everyday language, arranged into 16 categories: The Body; Food; Clothes; The Home; School; Work; The City; The Outdoors; The Arts; Technology; Sports; Travel; The World; Animals; and Reference.
Currently available or under development are monolingual, bilingual and multilingual apps including: Arabic; Chinese (Simplified, Traditional); English; French; German; Italian; Japanese; Korean; Portuguese (Brazil, Portugal); Russian; Spanish; and Turkish.
The PIX project is a joint effort of K Dictionaries, Marquee Publishing, and McHahm Inc.
